Wood and Laminate Floors Cleaning

by IBH Staff Writer 8. June 2010 03:27
Proper care of your floor extends its life, prevents damage and keeps it looking new. Here are some tips on how clean your wood and/or laminated floors.

Always dust, sweep or vacuum wood or laminated floors mopping.

Clean your wood floors using ½ cup vinegar in a gallon of water.

If you have been using vegetable oil on your floor just increase the vinegar to 1 cup per gallon of water.

Go over your floor several times to remove the residue. Rinse with warm water and dry.

Vegetable oil cleaners can leave a residue on wood floors that can deteriorate the sealant over time.

Vinegar neutralizes the alkaline in water. Water causes water spot damage and excess water may cause warps.

With the vinegar-water mixture, moisten a towel and wring out all the excess moisture. Use the towel as your mop. No need to rinse.

Dry the floor if necessary.
