Sales of Previously occupied home increase in June

The National Association of Realtors said sales of previously occupied homes jumped 3.6 percent from May to June. This is the third straight monthly increase indicating improvement in the status of the housing market and possibly a housing recovery.

The National Association of Realtors says home sales increased to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.89 million last month, from a downwardly revised pace of 4.72 million in May. This is the highest level of sales since October 2008.

The median sales price was $181,800 in June down 15.4 percent compared to June 2008 figure of $215,000 but from May’s figure of $174,700.
